Other Identification
Donors without ID from the Preferred identification list may present two forms current identification such as those listed below; however this list is not all inclusive.
- Work ID without photo
- Credit card or bank card without photo
- Social Security card
- Library card with donor's name
- Birth certificate (original or certified copy)
- Personal check book with name address
- Professional license (for example, RN, LPN, MT)
- Non-Red Cross blood donor card
- Voter registration card
- School ID or college ID card without photo
- Grocery store frequent shopper card with donor's name
- Club or museum membership card
- Vehicle registration Insurance card
- Payroll stub
Positive Donor ID Information
Volunteer blood donors must show identification when giving blood at an American Red Cross blood donation center or local blood drive.
The American Red Cross has implemented this policy to be sure that our blood donors:
- Are properly identified in Red Cross records
- Are not currently disqualified from donating
- Can be reached for further follow up if needed
Preferred Identification
One form of current identification is required from the list below:
- American Red Cross donor card (any version or date)
- Current United States or foreign government issued photo ID such as a passport, green card, or military ID
- Current state issued driver's license or identification card
Other acceptable identification that contains a photographic likeness of the potential donor:
- current student identification card
- corporate identification card
- credit card
